Willis McGahee listed as probable, will suit up for fantasy owners

Browns running back Willis McGahee practiced on Friday and will play on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. We break down the fantasy implications.

Kevin C. Cox

Cleveland Browns running back Willis McGahee (knee) practiced on Friday and is listed as probable for the team's Week 8 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He didn't practice Thursday but should be all systems go on Sunday. Running backs Chris Ogbonnaya and Fozzy Whittaker will also receive carries.

Fantasy Impact: McGahee has been highly unproductive all season. The 32-year-old veteran has only rushed for one touchdown on the year and is averaging a frighteningly low 2.9 yards per carry. Willis has seen his workload reduced in recent weeks as Whittaker and Ogbonnaya siphoned off nine carries last week against the Green Bay Packers. Owners can expect to see more of the same this week since McGahee has proven that he is well past his prime.

The Browns face the only remaining undefeated squad in the Kansas City Chiefs, but the Chiefs have had some trouble this season stopping the run -- they rank just 20th in rushing yards allowed per game. That weakness could be negated by Cleveland's uncertain quarterback situation. The Browns decided to bench ineffective quarterback Brandon Weeden in favor of the underwhelming Jason Campbell. Both McGahee and Ogbonnaya are desperation flex options and neither back is a recommended play this week.
