For the second straight week, the Bengals backfield disappointed fantasy owners. Giovani Bernard gained 18 yards on five carries. He caught one of his two targets for nine yards. It's worth mentioning that Bernard nearly had a touchdown that was ruled short of the goal line. Bernard's fellow running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed for only 33 yards on 11 carries. Green-Ellis was given goal line opportunities, but fell short on several attempts. Both backs were rested in the fourth quarter as the Bengals finished with a 49-9 victory over the Jets.
Giovani Bernard disappoints fantasy owners for second straight week
Bernard rushed for just 18 yards and caught one pass for nine yards. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: It was the second week in a row that the Bengals leaned heavily on the passing game. Even with a healthy lead, the run game was practically nonexistent. While we don’t expect this to be a consistent method on the part of offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, it does create some concern of fantasy inconsistency for Bernard. Regardless, Bernard is a solid RB2 in all formats and should bounce back against a Miami defense that has been generous with running backs in fantasy football.
