Andre Ellington made the most of his opportunity as the Arizona Cardinals starting running back on Sunday. With Rashard Mendenhall being held out of Sunday game with a toe injury, Ellington carried the ball 15 times for 154 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Atlanta Falcons. Ellington also caught two passes for eight yards. His biggest play was an 80-yard run to the end zone in the second quarter of the game.
Andre Ellington has a breakout fantasy performance in Week 8
Andre Ellington rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

Ellington benefited from Arizona’s defense limiting the Falcons all afternoon, giving the Cardinals offense more of a focus on clock control. Moving forward, it would be a shock if Ellington isn’t the Cardinals primary ball carrier.
Fantasy impact: It was the game fantasy owners have been waiting for. Ellington owners were committed to the rookie running back as the superior talent in the backfield, but the team inexplicably limited Ellington’s carries all season. With Mendenhall sidelined, the Cardinals coaching staff had no choice but to feed Ellington all afternoon. Assuming he moves forward as the team’s primary ball carrier, Ellington will be a solid RB2 in most formats. Be on the lookout for the occasional Mendenhall goal line carry as long as he’s healthy.
