Willis McGahee injury update: Listed as probable, will be available for fantasy owners

The Browns running back practiced on Friday and will start in Week 9 with Chris Ogbonnaya backing him up. We break down the fantasy implications.

Cleveland Browns running back Willis McGahee (knee) practiced on Friday and will play in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens. Fellow running backs Chris Ogbonnaya and Fozzy Whittaker are also healthy and will make up the team's three-headed rushing attack.

Fantasy Implications: Although McGahee is the team’s primary back, he is far from a workhorse. Over the last three weeks, McGahee has averaged only 10 carries per contest. Ogbonnaya’s already-small role as third down back has also been reduced in recent weeks because the team has given Whittaker a few touches as well. Ogbonnaya averaged four carries over the last three weeks which isn’t nearly enough to make any non-vulture back fantasy-relevant. Whittaker will handle the team’s kickoff return duties but he is also far from becoming a fantasy factor.

The declining 32-year-old McGahee may be the lead dog in this underwhelming running attack, but he is still not a recommended fantasy play. He is averaging 2.9 yards per carry and has only one touchdown on the year. Fantasy owners need to look elsewhere for a flex play, especially against the Ravens’ strong front seven.
