LeGarrette Blount and Brandon Bolden each saw reps against the Eagles in the Patriots opener, but their nights produced vastly different results. The two running backs are now likely battling for one roster spot with New England, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
LeGarrette Blount, Brandon Bolden battle for fantasy relevance
The Patriots have plenty of options in the backfield, which means one running back is likely going to be out of the picture after cuts are made. We break down the fantasy implications.

Blount had a monster first showing, rushing for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Bolden managed just 14 yards on four carries. With similar rushing styles, the Patriots will only need one to back up Stevan Ridley.
Fantasy impact: Shane Vereen provides a change of pace and a better receiver, so Blount and/or Ridley can stick with contributing to the ground game. It's still too early to tell, but Blount certainly made a strong impression in his first game.
Bolden showed promise last season, but his suspension for PEDs and injuries limited his role with the Patriots. He’s on the outside looking in at this point, and owners shouldn’t pay him much attention, barring a major breakout.
