Cincinnati decided to rest BenJarvus Green-Ellis in its second preseason game of the year, giving rookie Giovani Bernard the start with the first-team offense. Bernard rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. He also added a reception for 22 yards.
Giovani Bernard builds on fantasy value against Titans
The Bengals backup running backs tore apart the Titans defense on Saturday, and Giovani Bernard played well after getting the start. We break down the fantasy implications.

Dan Herron was also impressive on the ground, rushing for 81 yards and a score on nine carries. He broke off a 40-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
Fantasy impact: As a team, the Bengals averaged 6.2 yards per carry. Bernard had runs of 9, 9 and 7 yards before going for 22 yards on a short pass. He didn’t help his cause with 28 yards on 10 carries against the Falcons, but his second showing was far more impressive.
Green-Ellis is still locked in as the starter in Cincy. Bernard is more explosive, though, and provides a better threat in the receiving game. Two two could end up splitting time, and Bernard will be a decent option in PPR leagues.
