Dallas Cowboys running back Lance Dunbar has suffered a foot sprain and could miss up to three or four weeks, according to ESPN Dallas.
Lance Dunbar injury elevates fantasy value of Joseph Randle, Phillip Tanner
Given DeMarco Murray’s injury history, the battle for the No. 2 spot on the Cowboys’ running back depth chart is worth following.

Dunbar has been impressive in the preseason, but is now considered questionable for the team's season opener against the Giants. Foot sprains tend to linger, so it's tough to tell exactly how long Dunbar could be out.
DeMarco Murray is healthy for now, and rookie Joseph Randle is next in line to be his primary backup while Dunbar recovers from the injury, but Phillip Tanner will fight for carries as well.
Fantasy spin: Murray’s backups have seen more action than the Cowboys would like in recent seasons. While Murray is healthy now, his backup is worth rostering in deeper leagues.
Randle burst onto the scene with 70 rushing yards on 13 carries in the Hall of Fame game, showing off the lateral agility and straight-line speed that made him such a productive college running back. The competition between Randle and Tanner will be worth monitoring as long as Dunbar is sidelined.
