Danny Woodhead will make his Chargers debut Saturday night against the Cardinals, and he should be a significant factor in his new offense. Woodhead is expected to play a role similar to how Darren Sproles fit in with the team in his last few seasons in San Diego, according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Danny Woodhead to have ‘Sproles-type’ role, fantasy value up
With his new team, Danny Woodhead is expected to serve in a similar role as Darren Sproles did during his tenure with the Chargers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Woodhead should be the third-down and two-minute back for the Chargers. Sproles finished with 59 receptions in 2010, his last year with the team. Gehlken said there’s a realistic possibility of Woodhead catching over 60 passes.
Fantasy impact: PPR owners need to take note of Woodhead’s upcoming performance. He won’t see a ton of action against the Cardinals, but his reps can prove Gehlken’s theory correct.
Ryan Mathews continues to be pushed aside on passing downs. Woodhead is also solid in pass protection. The Chargers will be able to trust him in his new role.
