Dwayne Bowe has never been the beneficiary of a talented quarterback under center in Kansas City. The Chiefs acquired Alex Smith this offseason to bolster the passing game, but Bowe hasn't seen any improvement in his game so far.
Dwayne Bowe losing fantasy value with Alex Smith at quarterback
Alex Smith’s arrival in Kansas City hasn’t translated to any kind of success for Dwayne Bowe yet. We break down the fantasy implications.

Through two preseason games, Bowe has one target from Smith. Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star says Smith has hardly looked downfield, and Bowe will keep seeing double coverage until another receiver appears as a reliable threat.
Fantasy impact: Smith isn’t a downfield quarterback. That hasn’t been his game since entering the NFL. Owners shouldn’t expect a huge return on Bowe this season.
While two preseason games don’t provide enough evidence to write-off Bowe, it’s clear he is losing value in the Chiefs offense. They don’t have another receiver to take some of the pressure off, and with Smith looking for short passes constantly, Bowe won’t be getting many opportunities for big plays. His draft stock is falling.
