There is no question that Andy Dalton is the starter for Cincinnati, but the team is likely only to keep two quarterbacks. That's why it was imperative for Josh Johnson to have a big game against the Falcons on Thursday, and that's exactly what he did.
Josh Johnson has strong performance for Bengals, entering conversation as a deep fantasy sleeper
In a competition against John Skelton to backup Andy Dalton this year, Johnson continues to show promise as a player looking to get a shot in the NFL. If anything happens to Dalton, is Johnson your man?

Johnson was 9-for-16 passing for 100 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, while also leading the team in rushing with 64 yards on four carries. He is battling against former Cardinals quarterback John Skelton to backup Dalton, and Skelton also had a nice game. He was 4-of-5 passing for 72 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
Fantasy take: There's not a whole lot to see here from a fantasy perspective, but Johnson has always flashed promise since being drafted by the Buccaneers in the fifth round of the 2009 draft. Johnson was with the Browns last season, but did not attempt a pass.
If Johnson wins the backup job and anything happens to Dalton, he’s one to watch. Cincinnati has a lot of weapons for a QB to work with.
