Jonathan Stewart was placed on the PUP list by the Panthers on Aug. 27, which means the running back will not be able to play until at least Week 7. There is some concern of Stewart not being able to play at all in 2013 with his ankles still ailing.
Jonathan Stewart injury update: Running back sidelined, DeAngelo Williams fantasy value up
It’s a tough matchup for the Panthers, but DeAngelo Williams is the clear No. 1 runner in the backfield for the opener.

With Stewart out, DeAngelo Williams remains the starter in the Carolina backfield. He faces one of the best defenses in the NFL in Seattle for Week 1’s game.
Fantasy impact: It wouldn’t be a bad idea to hold off on Williams for the regular season opener. He rushed for six yards on six carries last season against the Seahawks. Does that get you excited about starting him?
The good news for Williams’ owners, though, is that Stewart won’t be in the picture for quite some time. The Panthers will rely on Williams to handle a good portion of the carries each week going forward.
