San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is hungry to start scoring touchdowns and really starting to come into his own, according to beat writer Tom Krasovic. Gordon has yet to receive a touch in the red zone through three games this season.
Melvin Gordon hungry to score, fantasy value bubbling to a boil
San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is itching to start scoring touchdowns. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: “I feel like everyone has scored but me.” That’s what Gordon said on Wednesday and it’s understandable why. Fantasy owners are probably a bit unsettled about it now that the season is reaching the end of the first quarter.
That said, Gordon is improving and showing flashes of the talent and speed that got him drafted into an automatic workhorse situation with the Chargers. Teammate Danny Woodhead is taking over on pass catching downs at the moment and he’ll always be involved, but it is time for Gordon to get more touches and he will get them going forward.
Fantasy owners may not have started him regularly to this point, but it appears he could be on the verge of his big breakout game any week now. Hopefully those that have Gordon on the roster are lucky enough to catch on for the ride whenever that game comes around.
