Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart missed Thursday's practice, according to Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer.
Jonathan Stewart misses second straight practice, concern over fantasy value grows
The Panthers may face a divisional foe shorthanded on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Stewart has been limited with a knee injury that also kept him out of practice on Wednesday. It's not out of the ordinary for ailing veterans to get extended rest time during the week, but if Stewart cannot return to the practice field at some capacity on Friday, his chances of suiting up on Sunday can be considered slim. If Stewart sits, Cameron Artis-Payne and Fozzy Whittaker will absorb his snaps.
Fantasy Spin: Stewart finally has the backfield to himself in wake of DeAngelo Williams' departure, but hasn't made the most of his opportunity. "The Daily Show" hasn't had a game where he's averaged more than 3.7 yards per rush, but has a fantastic opportunity to improve upon that with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense looming in Week 4.
Fantasy owners will have to make sure he practices Friday before taking his Week 4 availability for granted, and if he does, he deserves flex consideration. If Stewart sits, Artis-Payne and Whittaker aren’t worth starting consideration.
