Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray practiced on Thursday and seems to be recovering from his hamstring injury, according to beat writer Reuben Frank. Murray has a disappointing 11 yards rushing in two games this season.
DeMarco Murray practicing on Thursday, fantasy start on the horizon
Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray is starting to feel better and practicing again. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: The entire Eagles offense has struggled to start the season, so although Murray’s start to the year is disheartening, it’s not all on him. That said, the 2014 rushing champion got drafted high in most leagues under the impetus that coach Chip Kelly was going to magically turn the Eagles into a juggernaut this year and that hasn’t happened.
Nobody expected Murray to repeat his incredible 2014 campaign this year on a new team playing a different system, especially with Ryan Mathews around to take away some touches. That said, Murray will come back to a team that at least looked a little better against the Jets last week, so it’s time for him to start producing.
Fantasy owners won’t get official word on whether Murray will start on Sunday until closer to game time. The encouraging news is that a late week practice represents definite progress. He should be good to start, but whether he starts to produce is a totally different question.
