Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch may not play in the team’s Week 4 game against the Detroit Lions thanks to a hamstring injury, according to beat writer Dave Boling. Lynch carried the ball just five times for 14 yards against the Chicago Bears last week.
Marshawn Lynch misses practice on Thursday, fantasy status for Monday dicey
Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch may not play on “Monday Night Football” this week. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: Coach Pete Carroll maintained it’s going to take the entire week to figure out whether or not Lynch will be able to play against the Lions. Given the game is on Monday night, that news should already throw fantasy owners for a loop.
For what it’s worth, Beast Mode only has 128 rushing yards on the season through three weeks, so it’s not as if he’s been crushing opponents. That said, most still regard him as an elite rusher when fully healthy.
At this point fantasy owners would seemingly be better off just starting someone else in place of Lynch rather than risking a score of zero on Monday night. Those looking to pick up a teammate off of the waiver wire to back up Lynch may want to consider Thomas Rawls, who carried the ball 16 times for 104 yards last week in just his third career game. Numbers like that likely mean that Fred Jackson is no longer an option even with Lynch out.
