The Baltimore Ravens are in dire need of a reliable pass catcher with an important divisional game with the Cleveland Browns looming, and Kamar Aiken is a target that could be called upon to step up.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 5: Kamar Aiken
The Baltimore Ravens will need someone to step up with Steve Smith out, and Kamar Aiken will likely be asked to do so. We break down the fantasy implications.
With Steve Smith and possibly Crockett Gillmore sidelined for Week 5, the Ravens will have to turn to a committee of Aiken, Marlon Brown, Chris Givens, Maxx Williams, Nick Boyle and the dregs of their roster to catch passes from Joe Flacco. With Smith hobbled in Week 4, Aiken rose to the occasion, collecting five catches for 77 yards and a pivotal touchdown late in the game.
Fantasy impact: Aiken has a middling matchup at hand with the Cleveland Browns, a team that doesn't have a healthy Joe Haden at its disposal for Sunday. While Aiken is the top receiver on the Ravens' depth chart, fantasy owners shouldn't extrapolate that into believing Aiken will get a volume comparable to Smith. It's more likely that the Ravens take a committee approach, but Aiken should see more opportunities than in a normal week.
Aiken can be considered a low-end WR3 who will likely be touchdown-dependent if he is to cash in for his fantasy owners. With four teams on bye, fantasy owners could do much worse than taking a flier on him.
