Denver Broncos tight end Owen Daniels is the next contestant on the "Start Your Fantasy Tight Ends vs. the Oakland Raiders Sweepstakes."
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 5: Owen Daniels
The Broncos’ veteran tight end has a fantastic matchup this Sunday vs. the Oakland Raiders. We break down the fantasy implications.
The Raiders are averaging a league-worst 18 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season, and it's happened against Gary Barnidge, Crockett Gillmore, Martellus Bennett and Tyler Eifert. These are all fine tight ends, but they are putting up numbers that transcend "fine." This is why Daniels' owners aren't hesitating at all getting him in their lineups for Week 5, as an overmatched Raiders secondary could have its hands full on Sunday.
Fantasy impact: Because the tight end position is a dumpster fire to begin with, fantasy owners could do far worse than plug Daniels into their lineups in a week with four teams on byes. It should be done with tempered expectations, however, given Daniels’ paltry yardage totals and being low in the pecking order in terms of targets this season.
Daniels’ upside makes him start-worthy in 12-team leagues, but fantasy owners have to understand that his output will be heavily dependent on touchdowns once again. That said, odds he will find pay dirt are in his favor.
