No team has gone through more changes than the Miami Dolphins over the past two weeks, and their philosophy on offense will reflect that, according to running back Lamar Miller.
Dolphins will emphasize run game, per report, to the delight of Lamar Miller’s fantasy owners
The Dolphins couldn’t get the running game going with Joe Philbin leading the team, but will attempt to do so under their interim head coach. We break down the fantasy implications.
Per the Miami Herald's Adam H. Beasley, Miller and the rest of the Dolphins were told by interim coach Dan Campbell that a new emphasis will be placed on running the football. The Dolphins are currently last in the NFL in rushing attempts, and are one of two teams with zero rushing touchdowns on the season. Miller, the team's lead back, is averaging just 3.5 yards per carry.
Per the Miami Herald:
“[Campbell] pretty much told the whole team that we have to run the ball and stop the run,” running back Lamar Miller said. “That’s something that we emphasized, and something we want to get going.”
Fantasy impact: Fantasy owners can’t be faulted if their response to Miller’s quote is “I’ll believe it when I see it.” Miller hasn’t inspired much confidence from his onlookers when the ball has been in his hands this season, but his lack of use has been inexcusable. With a new coach at the helm, it’s possible that changes.
New circumstances in Miami, mixed in with running back injuries across the NFL and bye weeks, place Miller in the RB2 conversation, but if a change in their offense really is imminent, then fantasy owners have to feel encouraged. As of now, that remains a big if.
