New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will not practice Thursday, according to Art Stapleton of The Record.
Odell Beckham won’t practice Thursday, fantasy owners must have backup plans ready
The Giants could be without their No. 1 wide receiver on Monday night. We break down the fantasy implications.
Thursday marks the first practice of the week for the Giants, who don't play until Monday night vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. Beckham has been dealing with a hamstring injury that he suffered after celebrating a touchdown catch on Sunday, although he did reenter the game. A hamstring injury also sidelined Beckham from the summer until Oct. 5 of his rookie season, but coach Tom Coughlin considers him "day-to-day."
Fantasy impact: Beckham will be extremely risky to plug into lineups if he does not practice by Saturday. Due to drawing the late game, fantasy owners who are counting on Beckham to play may not have any options left if he is unable to take the field. It’s hard to imagine the Giants won’t do everything possible to get Beckham out there against a divisional rival, but that’s far from a guarantee he can take the field.
For now, fantasy owners can only check up on injury reports, and they have to consider the lingering nature of hamstring injuries, which have sidelined Marshawn Lynch, Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson this season. A backup plan must be at the ready for every Beckham owner.
