Jacksonville Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon missed his second straight practice on Thursday, according to Mark Long of the Associated Press.
T.J. Yeldon misses Thursday practice, fantasy outlook growing dim for Sunday
T.J. Yeldon missed practice once again on Thursday, putting his backup options in the limelight. We break down the fantasy implications.
Yeldon is battling a groin injury that forced an early exit in Week 5, and the rookie hasn't returned to practice yet despite reports of it being "not serious." Toby Gerhart and Denard Robinson are likely to take control of the backfield if Yeldon sits on Sunday, but him being inactive is not a foregone conclusion.
Fantasy impact: If Yeldon can’t go, his replacements don’t inspire much reason for optimism amid the fantasy football community. Either running back would need a significant workload to warrant fantasy consideration, and since they could split duties, it doesn’t present a favorable outlook.
Yeldon remains an RB2/flex option if he can take the field against the Houston Texans at his normal capacity. If not, Gerhart and Robinson only warrant consideration in the deepest of leagues. For now, fantasy owners have to keep an eye out for what information Friday's telling practice session will yield.
