Jerricho Cotchery practicing again, expected to return to fantasy lineups
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery is ready to return. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: The 2015 season was said to be wide open in terms of opportunities for receivers to excel in Carolina. That’s not because the receiving corps was going to be particularly good or because quarterback Cam Newton was suddenly going to be throwing five touchdown per game. It’s because Kelvin Benjamin tore his ACL in training camp.
So far nobody has really stepped up to take that No. 1 spot on a weekly basis. Rookie Devin Funchess was supposed to be given every opportunity in the world but he’s struggled in grasping the plays. Corey Brown has been less than stellar and even tight end Greg Olsen isn’t playing like his old self.
Fantasy owners may want to take a flyer on Cotchery just on a pure gamble, but the reality is he shouldn’t be much of a factor against the Seahawks or against anyone for that matter on a week-to-week basis. Start him at your own risk.
