San Diego Chargers wide receiver Stevie Johnson did not practice with the team on Thursday as he’s still struggling with a hamstring injury, according to beat writer Michael Gehlken. Johnson hasn’t played since the team’s Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Stevie Johnson misses practice on Thursday, good chance he spends another week on fantasy sidelines
San Diego Chargers wide receiver Stevie Johnson is struggling to overcome a hamstring injury. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: Johnson started his San Diego Chargers career off with a bang, scoring touchdowns in each of his first two games. In the next two games after that however, he total just 78 yards on seven catches combined.
Those kinds of numbers have value in very deep PPR leagues but not otherwise. Johnson is on a mediocre team and with tight end Antonio Gates back from suspension and fellow wide receiver Keenan Allen playing at a high level again, it doesn’t seem like there would be too many targets left to send to Johnson going forward.
Since he didn’t practice on Thursday, Johnson’s chance of playing against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday can be considered slim to none at the moment. Fantasy owners can look at many other options outside of the Chargers’ lineup to find a replacement. At this point that would be the safest way to go.
