Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington is expected to play on Sunday vs. the St. Louis Rams, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.
Andre Ellington expected to play Sunday, fantasy value unclear
The Cardinals will get a welcome return to the backfield on Sunday, but it’s unclear how much of a workload Andre Ellington will see. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ellington missed the team's past two games with a knee injury, but the Cardinals put up 48 and 47 points in each of those contests. With the Cardinals able to get the running game going with Chris Johnson in Ellington's absence, it remains unclear if Ellington will resume the workload he had before getting injured. Head coach Bruce Arians had confirmed earlier in the week that Johnson would remain a safe bet for 15-20 carries even upon Ellington's return, indicating that a changing of the guard has already happened.
Fantasy impact: With the Cardinals clicking on all cylinders, Ellington deserves flex consideration in PPR leagues, although his days of being a mainstay as an RB2 are likely over as long as Johnson remains in the fold. Fantasy owners should use Week 4’s contest as a barometer to see how Ellington will split the work with a rejuvenated Johnson, but hopes should not be high.
In standard leagues, fantasy owners would be advised to bench Ellington and remain with his contingency plan instead. Fantasy owners who picked up Thomas Rawls or Karlos Williams on waivers would be far better suited going with them instead.
