Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin practiced with the team on Friday, per PewterReport.com.
Doug Martin practices Friday, remains an iffy option for fantasy owners
The Buccaneers will likely have Martin in their lineup on Sunday, but his fantasy owners might think differently. We break down the fantasy implications.
Martin suffered a minor knee injury at Wednesday's practice and was subsequently held out on Thursday. He was spotted wearing a sleeve on his knee on Friday, but returning at any capacity for practice bodes well for his Week 4 availability. Expect Martin to take the field once again, although Charles Sims will be involved in the mix as well.
Fantasy impact: The latest injury to Martin could not have come at a worse time for his fantasy owners, since Sims has already eaten into his workload. Martin played just 31 snaps in Week 3, while Sims was right there with him at 30. The Buccaneers’ backfield has become a time-share, with Martin getting most of the early-down work.
With Martin now at less than 100 percent, it wouldn't be to the surprise of anyone if Sims takes over the bulk of the workload. Martin is at best a desperate flex-play this week vs. the Carolina Panthers, and fantasy owners would be advised to keep him benched if they have another capable flex-player waiting in the wings.
