St. Louis Rams running back Tre Mason missed practice on Wednesday but should get a lot more touches when he returns to the lineup, according to beat writer R.B. Fallstrom. To this point in the season, Mason has collected just 49 rushing yards on 20 attempts.
Tre Mason to see more touches in the near future despite not practicing on Wednesday, fantasy value has room to grow
St. Louis Rams running back Tre Mason did not practice on Wednesday but should see more touches once he returns. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: Coach Jeff Fisher stated that he’d like to get more touches for Mason going forward, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to take over the No. 1 spot anytime soon. The coach wants Mason to be a one-two punch alongside Todd Gurley.
For Fisher to come out and say that makes complete sense. He probably doesn’t want to give Gurley 30 carries per game every week for the rest of the season. At the same time, there is no chance the rookie loses anything significant to Mason given how well Gurley has played in his first two career games. It’s obvious the team’s first pick in the 2015 draft is a superstar in the making.
Gurley’s fantasy owners shouldn’t read too much into this and those who are looking to nab Mason to add depth to the fantasy roster can go ahead and do so. But, only with the understanding that his workload will surely only manifest itself in a change-of-pace-role.
