Washington running back Matt Jones practiced fully on Thursday, according to CSN Washington's Ben Standig.
Matt Jones practicing in full, presents fantasy flex value in Week 7
Washington could be without Chris Thompson on Sunday, but Matt Jones will likely return to the lineup. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jones missed Week 6 with a toe injury, ceding work to Alfred Morris and Chris Thompson instead. Despite that, it appears Jones is ready to lock and load after a one-game absence, which is welcome, since Thompson has yet to practice due to swelling in his back. Standig also added that coach Jay Gruden would like to have three running backs suit up on Sunday, meaning recently signed Mack Brown could make an appearance.
Fantasy impact: The Washington backfield is a committee approach, but if Thompson sits, there will be significant snaps to be had, especially in the passing game. That would likely be Jones’ area over Morris’, giving the rookie a higher floor in PPR formats than in previous weeks. While it’s unlikely that he approaches the monstrous 123-yard and two-touchdown performance of Week 2, the game script would favor Jones if Thompson is out.
Fantasy owners could do much worse than starting Jones as a flex for Week 7 in a week with four teams on bye. Upside can certainly be had in PPR leagues as a result.
