The New York Jets got exactly what they envisioned from their receiving tandem of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker in Week 6, but both also popped up on the injury report for Week 7.
Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker injury update: Jets WRs ‘probable’ for fantasy owners on Sunday
The Jets’ top two receivers are expected to take the field vs. the New England Patriots. We break down the fantasy implications.
Marshall was added mid-week with what has been described vaguely as a “sore calf,” but is listed as probable on the team’s injury report.
Decker had also been downgraded to "limited" in practice throughout the week due to a knee injury, but isn't expected to sit with a divisional matchup with the New England Patriots looming.
Fantasy impact: Marshall has topped 100 yards receiving in four of the five games he’s played in this season and is a WR1 in any week, regardless of his matchup. As a result, Decker has been pushed from the primary to secondary target in New York, but Chan Gailey’s offense has proven that this role can still produce solid fantasy numbers.
Decker is quietly averaging the 16th-most fantasy points per game among wide receivers in standard leagues, putting him in solid WR2 territory each week.
Fantasy owners would not have thought prior to the season that a Ryan Fitzpatrick-led offense could produce so much, but for as long as it’s happening, Decker deserves WR2/WR3 consideration. That remains the case for Week 7.
