Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown may be held out of action on Sunday to rest two hamstring injuries, according to Arizona Republic's Kent Somers.
Cardinals ‘leaning toward holding John Brown out’ Week 8, per report, fantasy owners need backups ready
The Cardinals may keep their speedy deep-threat out of action on Sunday due to a hamstring injury. We break down the fantasy implications
Brown missed practice on Wednesday after powering through the injuries on Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens, where he caught four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Despite producing at less than 100 percent, head coach Bruce Arians indicated that they could use Week 8 to rest Brown and allow him another week of rest when the Cardinals have their Week 9 bye. With a non-conference opponent in the Cleveland Browns looming, it isn't out of the question to rest the speedy receiver.
Fantasy impact: Hamstring injuries have been known to linger, and there have been no shortage of these cases in 2015, with Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy being examples of such. With Brown's game predicated so much on speed, it's easy to see why his team would want him to get to 100 percent instead of chancing anything.
Injury reports will have to be monitored throughout the week by Brown's fantasy owners, but it can't be ignored that the timing would be great to keep him out of action. If that's the case, expect Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd to receive an uptick in targets.
