New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.
Victor Cruz inactive for Week 4, fantasy value barely there
The Giants slot receiver suffered a setback in preparation for Sunday’s game, and will now sit out. We break down the fantasy implications.
Week 4 was supposed to mark Cruz’s return from a calf injury suffered over the summer, as well as a ruptured PCL that sidelined him for the remainder of 2014. Cruz suffered a setback during Wednesday’s practice, and there is now growing concern that the veteran slot receiver could miss even more time than initially expected.
Fantasy impact: With each passing week that Cruz misses, more reasons mount to cut ties with him. It’s fair to question whether the Giants’ longest-tenured receiver can reclaim the form he once had due to the devastating nature of his injury, and erring to optimism at the expense of a precious roster spot is a gutsy move for any fantasy owner to make.
Cruz’s status will be updated week-to-week, but after his latest setback, fantasy owners don’t have any reason to assume that he will be back anytime soon. It’s time to cut ties if it hasn’t happened already.
