When Marshawn Lynch popped up on the injury report for Week 3, savvy fantasy owners grabbed Thomas Rawls off the waiver wire, and were not disappointed.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 4: Thomas Rawls
Unfortunately for the Seahawks offense, Marshawn Lynch is dealing with a hamstring injury that could thrust Thomas Rawls into starting duties. We break down the fantasy implications.
Rawls carried the ball 16 times for 104 yards against a Chicago Bears team that appeared defeated from the starting whistle. With the Bears proving to be no match on the road, and without Jay Cutler and Alshon Jeffery, the Seattle Seahawks had little reason to push Lynch into action if he was ailing. Lynch totaled just 23 yards before being sidelined for the game's remainder.
Fantasy impact: The Seahawks play on Monday night against the Detroit Lions for Week 4, and even with the extra day of rest, it appears that Lynch will be no better than 50-50 to play, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Monday night schedule makes it difficult for fantasy owners who scooped Rawls off the waiver wire to make a decision whether to start or sit him, unless they also have Lynch on their roster.
That said, with Lynch dealing with a hamstring injury, an ailment that’s known to linger, Rawls can be expected to at least be involved in the backfield with “Beast Mode” at less than 100 percent. If Lynch takes the field, Rawls at least deserves flex consideration, and would garner an RB2 status if Lynch were to sit out.
