Buffalo Bills running backs LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams both sat out practice on Thursday, according to beat writer Joe Buscaglia. McCoy has been dealing with an injured hamstring since the preseason while Williams suffered a concussion in last week’s loss to the New York Giants.
LeSean McCoy, Karlos Williams both absent from practice Thursday, fantasy changes appearing likely
Buffalo Bills running backs LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams are both sitting out practice on Thursday and may not play in Week 5. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: It appears almost certain that at least one of the two running backs will sit out Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. If both McCoy and Williams sit out, Boobie Dixon would be the workhorse running back stepping in.
Dixon was once upon a time an impressive collegiate talent. So far this season, he’s only carried the ball eight times and rushed for exactly zero yards, though he does have a touchdown. While those figures are troublesome, his career average is a manageable 3.4 yards per carry, which is a respectable number for a third stringer.
Fantasy owners are advised to take a wait-and-see approach to the Bills’ backfield right now until the status of both McCoy and Williams are confirmed closer to kickoff. If it is indeed Dixon who leads the way on Sunday, he could end up being a surprise performer in deeper leagues, making him worth a gamble.
