New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis has signed a two-year extension with the team, according to beat writer Field Yates. It includes a $600,000 signing bonus with an $800,000 salary for next year and bonuses that could see him earn up to $1.8 million in the second year of the deal.
Dion Lewis signs 2-year contract extension, securing fantasy future
New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis has signed a two-year extension with the team. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: With teammate LeGarrette Blount starting out the season serving a suspension, Shane Vereen moving on to the New York Giants and Stevan Ridley joining the New York Jets, Dion Lewis earned a spot out of training camp with the Patriots.
Because of his small size, Lewis has had trouble sticking around in the league and he was an afterthought in fantasy drafts. Going into Week 5 of the season, however, it’s clear that Lewis is going to be a bigger part of the team’s offense than most people thought. He has a quickness and a pass catching ability similar to that of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Darren Sproles. Lewis has proved difficult to tackle and he adds a dimension to the Patriots’ running game that Blount simply can’t offer.
There’s a good chance Lewis is already on a fantasy roster, and given how well the Patriots are playing right now the sneaky veteran rusher should be in lineups week-to-week.
