Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith sat out practice on Thursday as he continues to recover from hurting his back last week, according to beat writer Jamison Hensley. He has 29 catches for 373 yards and two touchdowns on the season.
Steve Smith sits out practice, fantasy start unlikely
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith is dealing with a back injury. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: Smith didn’t practice on Wednesday either so it seems highly unlikely that there is any chance he will play against the Cleveland Browns this week. It’s too bad for his fantasy owners, because Smith has pretty much been the only reliable receiver the team has to this point in the year.
He’s been targeted a whopping 47 times in four games, which puts him on par with the likes of the Atlanta Falcons’ Julio Jones (52 targets) and the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Antonio Brown (44 targets). That just goes to show how valuable Smith is to the Ravens’ passing game, as nonexistent as it may seem to be at times.
Fantasy owners may want to take a flyer on Kamar Aiken at the moment, because for now it’s looking as if Smith won’t be available this week.
