Joique Bell misses practice on Thursday, fantasy status not promising
Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell did not appear at practice on Thursday in the portion that was open to the media. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: Although Bell did play in the team’s first three games of the year, it’s become quite clear that the Lions backfield belongs to rookie Ameer Abdullah at the present moment. It might as well -- the Lions have been struggling offensively all year long both in the running and passing games.
With the team facing a tough Arizona Cardinals defense in Week 5, neither Bell nor Abdullah would likely garner a start from most fantasy owners. Nobody in the Lions’ backfield has more than 50 yards rushing in a game this season. Perhaps the only back worth owning in Detroit is Theo Riddick due to his pass catching abilities, but even then his value lies solely in PPR leagues.
