Karlos Williams, LeSean McCoy ruled out for Sunday, fantasy owners need backups
The Bills will be extremely shorthanded at running back on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Buffalo Bills running backs LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams are not practicing on Friday, per Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News.
Williams remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, and McCoy continues his quest to be 100 percent past a hamstring issue that has lingered since the summer. Neither running back has practiced this week and both can be considered extreme longshots to play on Sunday. Boobie Dixon and Cierre Wood are expected to carry the load in their absences.
Fantasy impact: Dixon, a special teams buff, has never thrived carrying the football, having a 3.4 yards per carry average posted in his career stat line. It doesn’t instill much confidence in fantasy owners to give him the start in standard formats, and that’s a warranted decision.
Expect the Bills to go pass-heavy with Tyrod Taylor getting to face a vulnerable Tennessee Titans secondary. Dixon and Wood aren't worth consideration in standard formats, but if Williams is somehow cleared before Sunday, he can be placed on the RB2 radar.
The Bills have the early 1 p.m. slot, so fantasy owners can take solace in knowing they have plenty of options if Williams can’t make the start.
