Charles Sims rushing for a two-yard loss on third-and-goal from the 1-yard line won't pump joy through the veins of his fantasy owners, but better opportunities lie ahead for the second-year running back in Week 8.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 8: Charles Sims
Plenty of upside presents itself for the Buccaneers’ passing-down back in the event Austin Seferian-Jenkins sits on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Much of Sims' production will hinge upon the availability of Austin Seferian-Jenkins. The second-year tight end practiced on Wednesday, but coach Lovie Smith proclaimed on Thursday that Seferian-Jenkins was "not there yet" in regard to his recovery from a shoulder injury. If he sits, it leaves the Buccaneers devoid of options for Jameis Winston to throw to outside of Mike Evans.
Fantasy impact: This is where Sims could make fantasy owners happy, since Vincent Jackson and Louis Murphy are also sidelined. It could be checkdown city for Winston if Seferian-Jenkins can't go, making Sims a candidate for plenty of targets. If that is the case, he is firmly in RB2/flex territory in PPR leagues, and could even present value in standard leagues as well.
If Seferian-Jenkins starts, Sims presents flex value in PPR leagues, but would have a significantly lower floor. Until that decision is made, Sims’ owners will need to closely monitor injury reports out of Tampa.
