The Kansas City Chiefs didn't have Jeremy Maclin in the lineup on Sunday, but fantasy production was still had from the receiver position. Chris Conley stepped in to lead the team in targets, with seven, catching six of them for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 8: Chris Conley
The Chiefs were without Jeremy Maclin in addition to Jamaal Charles on Sunday, but the offense produced. We break down the fantasy implications.
The rookie from Georgia flashed the big-play ability on his longest catch of the day -- 25 yards -- and proved his worth by snagging short passes from the typically conservative Alex Smith.
Fantasy impact: Conley has intriguing size and speed and doesn’t have a steep climb to the top of the depth chart, which makes him worth monitoring in dynasty and keeper leagues. However, with Maclin’s impending return from a concussion, Conley will be pushed down in the pecking order for targets and can’t be trusted in lineups for the short-term.
Maclin and Travis Kelce remain Smith’s most reliable targets and present far more fantasy value than Conley would in normal circumstances. Despite the breakout week, Conley should remain on benches or waivers in leagues of all formats.
