Antonio Gates injury update: fantasy status in limbo due to knee injury
The Chargers could be without their starting tight end for the second straight week. We break down the fantasy implications.
San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates is listed as questionable on the team's injury report for Sunday's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. Gates missed Week 7's divisional matchup with the Oakland Raiders due to an MCL sprain and has missed six consecutive practices.
Head coach Mike McCoy stated in previous press conferences that he has confidence in Gates’ ability to play on Sundays without practicing, but there hasn’t been any encouraging news throughout the week suggesting Gates will return to action.
Fantasy impact: Though Gates is listed as questionable, he can be considered closer to doubtful or out for Sunday's game with the absences from practice stacking up. Ladarius Green is in line to make his second consecutive start, and will do so against a woeful Ravens secondary.
Green can be considered a low-end TE1 with upside on Sunday, and Gates will likely remain on fantasy benches across the board. When he returns, he’s expected to be a top-three option at tight end from week-to-week.
