Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns' status for Sunday is "up in the air," according to a report by Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union.
Allen Hurns is ‘up in the air’ for Sunday, fantasy owners need backup plans ready
The second-year wideout is in danger of missing his first NFL game. We break down the fantasy implications.
The “up in the air” status comes from Hurns’ own words, as the second-year receiver continues to recover from a sprained foot. Hurns was in a walking boot earlier in the week and was held out of Wednesday’s practice session. Though Hurns has never missed any of the 24 games that have transpired over the course of his young career, it appears that the former undrafted free agent is trending toward that direction.
Fantasy impact: Hurns has been a model of consistency for fantasy owners this season, catching one touchdown pass in six consecutive games. As a result, he’s been a valuable addition to fantasy rosters that either selected in him in the late rounds of drafts, or on waivers. In fact, Hurns is averaging the ninth-most fantasy points per game among wide receivers in standard leagues, putting him firmly in WR1 territory over the course of the season.
If Hurns recovers and plays on Sunday, he will be a fringe WR1/WR2 in a dream matchup against a pathetic Baltimore Ravens secondary. If he sits, expect Allen Robinson to have more targets than his fantasy owners could ask for. For now, Hurns' owners must remain glued to practice reports.
