Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was held out of Thursday's practice with a groin injury, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
Alshon Jeffery sits out Thursday’s practice, fantasy status in question for Sunday
The Bears could be without their No. 1 receiver on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jeffery suffered the injury in Wednesday’s session and spent Thursday getting treatment instead of taking the practice field. Mid-week injuries never bode well for a player’s availability, but it is still too early to assume the worst. Jeffery has already dealt with a hamstring injury that held him out of four games as well as preseason action.
Fantasy impact: Jeffery showed more glimpses of his usual dominance on Monday night after Jason Verrett was sidelined with a groin injury of his own. The Bears' top receiver caught 10 passes for 151 yards on 16 targets, reaffirming how much of a game-changing presence he can provide. Jeffery has posted three straight games of at least 116 yards.
For now, Jeffery should be considered truly questionable for Week 10's matchup against the St. Louis Rams. If he suits up, he can be considered a firm WR1 against one of the league's more talented defenses.
