Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins isn't sure why he has not been cleared to play, according to a report from JoeBucsFan.com.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins’ clearance a mystery, per report, has fantasy upside upon return
The Buccaneers’ tight end continues to practice, but has yet to be cleared to play since injuring his shoulder in Week 2. We break down the fantasy implications.
Seferian-Jenkins is practicing for the third consecutive week, but is yet to make an appearance since injuring his shoulder in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints. The second-year tight end continues to practice at a limited basis, but final word for him to take the field hasn't yet come from the meidccal staff.
When asked why he had not yet been cleared to play, Seferian-Jenkins said, via JoeBucsFan.com:
“That is a question you have to ask the medical staff,” ASJ said. “I’m doing my part, coaches are doing their part, everyone is doing their part, medical staff is doing their part. We have to make sure everyone is healthy and make sure it’s safe for people to go out there.”
Fantasy impact: The Buccaneers are desperate for a pass catcher to emerge behind Mike Evans, especially with Vincent Jackson sidelined with a knee injury. Donteea Dye and Adam Humphries have taken snaps in Jackson's absence, but Seferian-Jenkins' two-touchdown performance in Week 1 displayed that he can be a game-changer when on the field.
If Seferian-Jenkins takes the field on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, his volume and upside puts him at fringe TE1/TE2 territory. But because he has not played in two months, fantasy owners must remain glued to injury reports in the meantime. Seferian-Jenkins' status will likely come down to game time.
