The Green Bay Packers boast one of the better offenses in the NFL, but it isn' twhat it used to be with Jordy Nelson injured and Randall Cobb and Eddie Lacy not looking like their old selves. As a result, they've had to look to other options to put points on the board, and Richard Rodgers has done a fine job doing so.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 10: Richard Rodgers
The Packers’ starting tight end is picking up slack in areas the rest of the offense has struggled. We break down the fantasy implications.
Rodgers hasn't asserted himself much between the 20-yard lines, but even in Week 9's loss to the Carolina Panthers, Rodgers proved to be a necessary presence near the goal-line by securing two touchdown passes and doubling his season's total. He finished the afternoon with five catches, but for just 19 yards against one of the NFL's most formidable defenses that houses arguably the best linebackers in the league.
Fantasy impact: Fantasy owners who start Rodgers are doing so knowing it will be a boom-or-bust scenario. The Packers' tight end has never posted over 45 yards in one game, but the fact he is emerging as one of Aaron Rodgers' preferred weapons near the end zone is more than enough reason to garner starting consideration.
Rodgers' fantasy value will always be touchdown-dependent, but with a generational NFL talent throwing him the football, that's not the worst fantasy scenario his owners could face. For Week 10 against a porous Detroit Lions defense, Rodgers can be considered a high-floor, low-ceiling TE2.
