Calvin Johnson injury update: WR listed as questionable, but expects to play for Lions, fantasy owners
The Lions’ No. 1 receiver missed Friday’s practice but expects to play Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is listed as questionable on the team's injury report.
Despite having a bye week to rest his injured ankle, Johnson is not fully recovered from in. The former All-Pro receiver practiced on Wednesday and Thursday at a limited basis, but raised eyebrows due to being absent during Friday’s session. Despite that, Johnson said he expects to suit up on Sunday, according to SiriusXM NFL Radio.
Fantasy impact: Even amid a lost season where the Lions sit at 1-7 and have fired many of the team's higher-ups, Johnson will still take the field at less than 100 percent. With the franchise on notice from owner Martha Ford, everyone in Detroit is working to keep their jobs since working for a Super Bowl is out of the equation.
Johnson remains a fringe WR1/WR2 against a Packers team that the Lions will likely have to play lots of catch-up against. Even with his ankle being an issue in Week 8, Johnson still amassed 85 yards over five receptions, and will likely see a high volume of targets come his way once again.
