The Dallas Cowboys signed running back Robert Turbin on Wednesday, formerly of the Cleveland Browns. Turbin will fill the roster spot of the recently released Christine Michael and will back up Darren McFadden along with Rod Smith.

The Cowboys’ revolving door of running backs continues, this time with Robert Turbin added to the mix. We break down the fantasy implications.

A preseason ankle injury and the emergence of Thomas Rawls made Turbin expendable while with the Seattle Seahawks, leading to his release and eventual signing by the Browns. Turbin carried the ball 18 times for 60 yards in 2015 before being released.
Fantasy impact: Turbin flashed while backing up Marshawn Lynch during his time in Seattle, but never gained traction with his second NFL team. The 220-pound back has the ability to handle early down and passing duties, and if McFadden were to get injured, Turbin has the versatility to slide in to an every down role.
It’s not unreasonable to expect Turbin to be McFadden’s primary backup once he gets acclimated, and that alone warrants an add in leagues of all formats. For now, Smith is expected to be the No. 2 in Dallas, but it doesn’t seem likely that will hold up for the remainder of the year.
