Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah isn't getting much usage due to ball security concerns, according to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com.
Ameer Abdullah’s fumbling concerns hinder usage, per report, fantasy value remains long-term
The Lions aren’t getting the contributions from their speedy rookie running back that many anticipated. We break down the fantasy implications.

Twentyman's report originates from the words of offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, who was hesitant to put Abdullah into action when the Lions had a slim lead against the Green Bay Packers in the second half of Week 10's victory. With the Lions' margin for error already slim, one turnover is enough to doom them, especially against a sleeping giant such as the Packers. As a result, it's understandable why the Lions wouldn't want the ball in the hands of a player who has fumbled four times through nine games.
Fantasy impact: Those hoping Cooter’s promotion to offensive coordinator would mean good things for Abdullah are undoubtedly let down at this point of the season. Until Abdullah earns trust of the coaching staff, there’s no reason for fantasy owners to trust him either.
For Week 11's matchup with the Raiders, Abdullah is best suited for the bench. High keeper value remains for a player with his explosiveness, but there isn't much short-term value to be had.
