Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is progressing from a knee injury and is on track to play on Sunday against the New York Jets, according to the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson.
DeAndre Hopkins sits Thursday’s practice, expected to play Sunday for Texans, fantasy owners
The Texans’ No. 1 wideout is dealing with a knee injury. We break down the fantasy implications.
Despite the encouraging words from Wilson's report, Hopkins sat out of Wednesday and Thursday's practice sessions. It is unclear as to when he suffered his knee injury since he played in all 63 snaps during the Texans' 10-6 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night. A limited practice would go a long way toward confirming Hopkins' status for Sunday, but as of now, he must be viewed as truly questionable.
Fantasy impact: Fantasy owners will undoubtedly have raised eyebrows at the star receiver's two absences in as many practices, but shouldn't yet panic. At the very least, a backup plan must be explored, but the hope is that it won't get to that point since Hopkins is averaging more fantasy points per game than every receiver not named Julio Jones.
Fantasy owners will have to check in 90 minutes before game time before penning Hopkins into their lineups to be safe. But with T.J. Yates starting and with Hopkins presumably at less than 100 percent lining across from Darrelle Revis, this has all the makings of a down week for the fantasy stud.
