Philadelphia Eagles running back Ryan Mathews has been ruled out for Week 11's contest with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Ian Rapoport.
Ryan Mathews ruled out on Sunday for Eagles, fantasy owners
The Eagles will be without one key part of its three-headed rushing attack on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Mathews is dealing with a concussion that he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins and has not yet cleared the NFL's concussion protocol. Kenjon Barner will be active in Mathews' place, while Darren Sproles and DeMarco Murray are expected to have expanded roles with Mathews out of action.
Fantasy impact: Murray owners, who are usually at war with Mathews’ owners each week, will likely have nothing to be concerned about in Week 11 when it comes to usage. Mathews was Murray’s biggest threat for early down and goal line work, but it appears that Murray will have a firm grasp on those duties while Sproles handles most passing-downs.
Murray can be considered a firm RB1, even against a Buccaneers team that hasn’t allowed a touchdown to a running back since Week 3. Sproles deserves flex consideration in PPR leagues, but Barner isn’t on the fantasy radar for Week 11.
