San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde has been ruled out for Sunday, according to head coach Jim Tomsula.
Carlos Hyde ruled out again for 49ers, fantasy owners
The 49ers will be without their starting running back for a fourth straight week. We break down the fantasy implications.
Hyde continues to recover from a stress fracture in his foot, and he hasn't practiced since making his last appearance in Week 7 against the Seattle Seahawks. With the second matchup of the season slated to happen between the two divisional rivals, the 49ers will be without their lead running back. Shaun Draughn is expected to lead a three-headed committee with Kendall Gaskins and Travaris Cadet being mixed in.
Fantasy impact: Fantasy owners who are resorting to starting any 49ers running backs in Week 11 are doing so as a Hail Mary, and nothing else. Hail Marys are never attempted under ideal circumstances, so fantasy owners who are banking on Draughn, Gaskins or Cadet are doing so under the assumption that there isn’t a high chance of cashing in on fantasy points.
Hyde’s owners should keep their running back stashed, but with no progress being seen from him amid a lost season for the 3-6 49ers, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him placed on injured reserve in the near future.
