Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch may have a sports hernia, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Marshawn Lynch may have sports hernia, per report, fantasy value in doubt
The Seahawks’ feature back could miss additional time with a sports hernia. We break down the fantasy implications.

Lynch was a surprise scratch from Sunday's divisional game against the San Francisco 49ers due to what was described as an abdomen injury. Rapoport revealed that Lynch is confirming if it is a sports hernia and is determining his course of action with a specialist on Monday. Thomas Rawls took Lynch's place in the lineup on Sunday and totaled a whopping 255 yards and a pair of touchdowns against a hapless 49ers defense.
Fantasy impact: If Lynch’s injury is confirmed as a sports hernia, it’s possible that he would go under the knife and be sidelined for the rest of the regular season. Lynch had already missed two games due to a back injury earlier in the season, and it appears that all the mileage could finally be catching up to the 29-year-old running back.
The event of Lynch’s surgery would surely mean that Rawls becomes the hottest waiver add in leagues of all formats if he is not owned already. For the rest of the season, Rawls would be a borderline RB1/RB2 amid a depleted field of running backs across the fantasy spectrum. Lynch owners, meanwhile, are stuck playing the waiting game while the fate of their running back’s season is determined.
