Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce injured his ankle while practicing on Friday and he’s now considered questionable for the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, according to the team’s official practice report. Kelce caught five passes for 46 yards in last week’s game against the San Diego Chargers.
Travis Kelce suddenly questionable, fantasy status uncertain
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce suffered an injury at practice on Friday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: Last year, Kelce was a breakout fantasy star. This year, the Chiefs’ passing game has proved to be anemic overall. Even with star running back Jamaal Charles out for the season, it’s clear Coach Andy Reid prefers a run-first offense.
In spite of that obvious reality, Kelce still holds fantasy value. His 50 catches, 620 yards and three touchdowns on the year makes him useful in PPR formats. That said, it looks like he may not be ready to play this week.
Fantasy owners may as well look elsewhere for a tight end, especially those still fighting for a playoff spot. If Kelce does play, feel free to use him. Keep in mind however that he is up against a solid Buffalo Bills defense this week.
